About the Landscapes Through Time Conference
Supported by funding from the Natural Resources Environmental Studies Institute (NRESi) and Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS), this conference focuses on the geology and geomorphology of the Prince George region and the Regional District of Fraser–Fort George.
This event will bring together academics, First Nations, provincial and local government, industry professionals, and community members to share knowledge on ongoing research, land-use challenges, and landscape change in north-central British Columbia. Speakers will represent a wide range of perspectives, including scientific research, applied management, and Indigenous knowledge systems grounded in long-term relationships with the land.
A key goal of the conference is to increase public engagement with geology and geomorphology. Alongside technical sessions, the program will include accessible talks, discussions, and field trips that highlight how geological processes influence natural hazards, resources, recreation, and everyday life in the region.
This conference offers an opportunity to learn about the landscapes around Prince George, connect across disciplines and communities, and explore why geology matters.
